1--review lesson 4, pages 7 & 8 using the letters and vowels above.
2--Look up in the Five Books of Moses chumash page 47 and discuss the Names of God. Consider some of the other names and titles people give to God—King, Father, Rock, The Place (HaMakom), The Awesome, The Great. Ask for other possible terms one might use respectfully for God (Judge, Master, Teacher, Coach, Shepherd. Life-Giver? ) Notice when in temple days the 4-letter name of God was pronounced. Act it out, if you choose to--choose a Kohein Gadol, tie an imaginary rope around his or her leg and have the student go reverently into the Holy of Holies to whisper the name of God (as he imagines it.) Explain about the rope--since nobody else was allowed in the room, and since it was sort of thought of as God's personal space, any person going into it might expect to get zapped. 3--Look at the list of portions in Bereshit and have the students work in pairs to find the name of a main character in the first 6 parashiot.
